Dreamforce Cannabis Guide: Where to Buy Near Moscone Center

Dreamforce week turns SoMa into a city-within-the-city. You’re sprinting between Moscone Center, a partner breakfast at Salesforce Tower, and a 7 p.m. happy hour at the Marriott Marquis — and somewhere between the keynote and the after-party you’d like to know where to buy cannabis near Moscone without burning an hour.

This is the practical Dreamforce cannabis guide for adult attendees: where the closest licensed dispensary actually is, how to walk there in under twenty minutes, what ID you’ll need at the door, and which products travel well from a hotel room to a long convention day.

California Street Cannabis runs three licensed shops in San Francisco. The closest to Moscone — by a wide margin — is our Sansome St location in Jackson Square. Here’s how to get there, and what to know before you do.

The closest licensed dispensary to Moscone Center

California Street Cannabis at Sansome — 615 Sansome St, between Jackson and Pacific in the historic Jackson Square district — is the closest licensed cannabis dispensary to Moscone Center. It’s roughly nine-tenths of a mile from Moscone South, an 18-minute walk on mostly flat ground.

Why this matters during Dreamforce week: the convention center sits at 747 Howard St between 3rd and 4th. From any of the Moscone halls, you head north toward Market and continue up Sansome to our shop. The route avoids the Nob Hill grade entirely, which matters when you’re already on your feet for ten hours of sessions, expo halls, and standing partner conversations.

If you’re staying at a Union Square hotel — the Westin St. Francis, the Hilton Union Square, the Marriott Marquis on Mission — add only a few minutes. Those hotels are nearly equidistant between Moscone and Sansome, and the walk lands well under 25 minutes from any of them.

Pressed for time between keynote slots? A rideshare from Moscone runs five to seven minutes off-peak, longer when keynotes let out. For most attendees, though, the walk is the right call — it doubles as a session-recovery stretch.

How to walk from Moscone to Sansome — turn by turn

Downtown San Francisco street, the walk from Moscone toward Sansome

From Moscone South (747 Howard St)

  • Head east on Howard one block to 1st St. Yerba Buena Gardens will be on your right.

  • Turn left and walk north on 1st St across Mission St, then across Market St.

  • At Market St, 1st St becomes Sansome St. Continue north.

  • Walk past Bush, Pine, California, Sacramento, Clay, Washington, and Jackson — eight blocks total, all flat or gently downhill.

  • 615 Sansome is on the east side of the street between Jackson and Pacific. Look for the Jackson Square historic block — the Transamerica Pyramid will be visible to your west on the way.

From Moscone West or Moscone North (800 Howard)

Same route — exit toward 3rd or 4th, walk one block east to 1st St, then follow the directions above. Adds maybe 90 seconds.

From a Union Square hotel

Walk south to Market St, east on Market until you hit 1st St / Sansome, then north on Sansome. From the Westin St. Francis at Powell and Geary, plan on 22–25 minutes.

If you’d rather not walk, the Sansome shop is on the standard rideshare grid — any driver will know it. The other two California Street Cannabis locations, the Nob Hill flagship at 1398 California and the Inner Richmond shop at 235 Clement, are farther from Moscone — Sansome is the conference shop.

Sansome St hours during conference week

Most Moscone conferences — Dreamforce, RSA Conference, Oracle CloudWorld, the JPMorgan Healthcare Conference — run Tuesday through Friday. That’s our long-day window at Sansome:

  • Monday: 9 a.m. – 9 p.m.

  • Tuesday – Friday: 9 a.m. – 10 p.m.

  • Saturday: 10 a.m. – 9 p.m.

  • Sunday: 10 a.m. – 7 p.m.

Late-Tuesday-night keynote-recap drinks ran longer than you planned? The shop is open until 10. Friday-morning closing-remarks crowd flying out that afternoon? We open at 9 every weekday.

Pickup orders placed through the Sansome online menu match store hours, 9 a.m. – 10 p.m. Tuesday through Friday. Order from your session and skip the in-store browse if you’re tight on time. Delivery is also available 10 a.m. – 8 p.m., though during Dreamforce week the 18-minute walk is usually faster than waiting on traffic-snarled cannabis delivery. Your call.

ID, payment, and what to expect at the door

ID requirements

  • You must be 21 or older with a valid government-issued photo ID. No exceptions.

  • Out-of-state IDs are accepted. A Texas, New York, Illinois, or any other US state’s driver’s license is fine.

  • International visitors: bring a passport. Most foreign-issued national IDs aren’t recognized under California regulations, but a passport is universally accepted.

  • We check your ID at the door, hand it back, and get on with your visit. We don’t scan it, photocopy it, or store it.

Payment

  • Cash is always accepted. There’s an ATM in-store if you need one.

  • Debit cards work at all three California Street Cannabis shops. Credit cards don’t — that’s a federal-banking constraint applied to every licensed dispensary in California, not a store policy.

  • Receipts itemize state excise and city tax separately, which makes expensing straightforward if your company allows it.

Purchase limits and the menu

California’s daily adult-use cap is 28.5 grams of flower or 8 grams of concentrate. You’re not getting near those limits on a conference run. The Sansome menu leans into discreet, travel-friendly formats: low-dose edibles and infused beverages, vape cartridges and disposables, and pre-rolls. If this is your first dispensary visit anywhere, our broader first-time buyer’s guide covers what to expect step by step.

Dreamforce cannabis picks: what to buy if you’re flying in

Preroll on minimal packaging, a low-key Dreamforce pick

Edibles and infused drinks

Microdose gummies (typically 2.5 mg or 5 mg per piece) and infused seltzers are the most popular choices for conference attendees: precise dosing, no smell, no smoke, and easy to consume in a hotel room without disturbing anyone. Brands we stock include Kiva, Camino, WYLD, Lost Farm, Cann, and Pamos.

Effects vary person to person, especially with edibles — start low and give it time before deciding whether to take more.

Vape cartridges and disposables

510-thread cartridges and prefilled disposables produce no lingering smell when used responsibly, which is why they’re popular with travelers. Brands include STIIIZY, Bloom, Jetty, and Care By Design.

One important note: most San Francisco hotels are non-smoking by law, including for cannabis vapor. A vape used in a hotel room can violate hotel policy and trigger cleaning fees even when it leaves no smell. Read your hotel’s policy before you go — and see our broader cannabis etiquette guide for where consumption is and isn’t legal in San Francisco.

Pre-rolls and infused pre-rolls

Singles and packs are available — useful if you’re staying somewhere with a designated outdoor smoking area, or you have a private host who’s offered an outdoor space. Pre-rolls travel well in the original sealed packaging.

What we’d skip for a conference trip

Large flower jars, wax and concentrate jars, and dab tools — not because they’re bad products, but because they’re conspicuous, hotel-unfriendly, and harder to deal with on a quick trip. Save the flower jar for when you’re home.

Where you can — and can’t — consume cannabis in San Francisco

San Francisco at night during conference week

Public consumption is illegal in California — it’s treated like an alcohol open-container violation. That includes sidewalks, parks, the Embarcadero, transit, and the entire area around Moscone Center. SFPD can issue citations for public consumption, and they sometimes do during major conferences.

Where you can consume

  • A private residence, with the resident’s permission.

  • A licensed cannabis consumption lounge — San Francisco has a small but growing number of these. The list changes; verify current options before you go.

  • Some hotel rooms allow consumption of edibles and other non-smoke products. Most hotels prohibit smoking and vaping. Always read your specific hotel’s policy in writing.

Where you can’t

  • Anywhere in public — sidewalks, parks, plazas, transit, beaches, and Moscone Center itself.

  • Federal property — including the Embarcadero piers operated by federal agencies, the entire SFO airport, and Golden Gate National Recreation Area.

  • Behind the wheel. Cannabis DUI carries the same penalties as alcohol DUI.

Flying home

Cannabis is illegal under federal law, and federal law governs airports. TSA’s official guidance is that officers don’t actively look for it but will refer it to local law enforcement if found. SFO sits in San Mateo County, which has its own enforcement posture. Practical advice: consume what you buy in San Francisco; don’t pack it. Our deeper flying-with-cannabis explainer covers state-by-state arrival rules if you need more detail.
