The Magic of Kikoko CBD Day Drops
As an owner of a cannabis dispensary in SF it pains me to say this, but I’m a THC lightweight. I am the kind of person who tends – for better or worse – to rely on clever comebacks to make it through the day, and THC utterly robs me of my witty defense mechanisms. It also leaves me utterly devoid of motivation the day after use, which I simply cannot afford as a father, business owner, and general busy-body who prefers to run full speed away from unpleasant feelings rather than confront them.
In this vein, I viewed the CBD craze with a fair bit of skepticism, placing it somewhere in the “almost certainly placebo” realm of Reiki massages, chiropractors, and multilevel marketing essential oils. I was concerned about unwanted side effects, and so I simply avoided CBD, accepting that I’m just a “beer, tequila and psychedelic mushrooms (a couple times a year)” kind of guy. Then one day, about four months ago I was stuck working on a Saturday evening at our dispensary covering a shift for a partner. I was bored and feeling cooped up, and I saw a bottle of Lightly Lifted 18:1 staring at me from the shelf. Eh, fuck it, when I got home I cracked open the container and sucked down a big heaping dropperful.
To my delight about 60 minutes later, my cares melted away. Soon, a general calm and near-euphoria washed over me. It’s hard to describe, but it was like I’d just lowered my body into a hot tub filled with bubbling milk chocolate set to a perfect 103 degrees. I felt like the main character in Office Space after he gets hypnotized.
After a couple hours, the feeling faded out gently, and I returned to regular Ben. No hangover. No complete lack of motivation to do anything but sit on my couch and feel sorry for myself. Nothing! I was hooked.
Over the next few months, I took it upon myself to try as many CBD products as I could get my hands on. My favorites were the Care by Design and Lightly Lifted high CBD drops, followed by Kikoko Mints. I thought I’d covered it all until last week, when I got my hands on the new Kikoko “Day” CBD tincture.
CBD’s Benefits: Fact or Fiction?
Firstly, holy guacamole, the drops are taaasty. Care by Design and Lightly Lifted flavors are passable and by no means terrible. But many CBD tinctures have the flavor of distilled taint, like a pair of increasingly damp boxer shorts on a Burner riding around the Playa on an art bike in 100 degree heat wearing a fur coat for some reason. The Kikoko Day drops are gingery, rich, and sumptuous. I would like to add drops of them to my coffee or dollop them atopst a scrumpet for afternoon tea. They are that delicious.
Secondly, in my humble opinion, the mood enhancing quality of these drops is unsurpassed. The drops boast the additions of both L-Theanine (a naturally occurring antioxidant in green/black tea) and Gaba (an amino acid, mood enhancer just starting to make it into the mainstream). For me personally, the CBD, trace THC and these two compounds seemed to form together like Voltron and catapult me into the stratosphere. While I felt absolutely no real psychoactive effects, I almost experienced the euphoria and a touch of ESP that, previously, only psilocybin offered me…almost. After my first experience, I sailed off to sleep that evening with delightful images of brand new colors and fantastical creatures dancing like the aurora borealis on the inside of my eyelids.
I feel like I’ve stumbled onto the Holy Grail of CBD products here. I want to climb the nearest mountain and proclaim the benefits of Kikoko Day drops to you heathen masses. Swift death to the unconverted!…
Ok instead, I’ll just write this blog post. Give them a try if you’d like. 11/10 would recommend.
Sincerely and excitedly,
